Build a simple gravity system for treating and filtering everyday drinking water at home.
The PURINIZE® DIY Gravity Water Treatment and Filter Kit combines ionic mineral treatment with ceramic filtration. PURINIZE® causes dissolved chemical impurities to coagulate, precipitate, and settle as inert sediment. The 0.2 micron ceramic filter then removes visible sediment as the water moves into the lower bucket.
The included PURINIZE® treats up to 120 gallons of drinking water. No electricity or pumping is required.
Kit Includes
- Two PURINIZE® 8 oz bottles
- One 0.2 micron ceramic filter
- One dispensing spigot
Buckets, lids, drill, and drill bits are not included.
What You Need
- Two 5 gallon food grade buckets with lids
- One drill
- One 1/2 inch drill bit
- One 3/4 inch drill bit
Assembly
- Drill a 1/2 inch hole in the center of the bottom of the upper bucket.
- Drill a matching 1/2 inch hole in the center of one lid.
- Install the ceramic filter inside the upper bucket. Secure it underneath with the supplied gasket and wingnut. Tighten until snug. Do not overtighten.
- Drill a 3/4 inch hole several inches above the bottom of the lower bucket.
- Install the spigot through the hole. Secure it inside with the supplied gasket and nut. Tighten until snug.
- Place the drilled lid on the lower bucket.
- Stack the upper bucket on the lower bucket so the ceramic filter outlet passes through the hole in the lid.
How To Use
Add 20 drops of PURINIZE® per quart or liter, or 1 teaspoon per gallon of drinking water. Stir thoroughly and allow at least 60 minutes for the ionic mineral chemistry to work.
Pour the treated water into the upper bucket. Gravity draws it through the ceramic filter and into the lower dispensing bucket.

- Typical flow time is 30 to 60 minutes per gallon
- Up to three compatible ceramic filters can be installed to increase flow
- Ceramic filter should be replaced after approximately 1,000 gallons
Filter Care
Rinse the ceramic filter with clean water after use. If the flow remains slow, gently scrub the outside surface with the abrasive side of a clean sponge. Never use soap or detergent on the ceramic filter.
