Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is PURINIZE®?

PURINIZE® is a concentrated ionic mineral solution derived from a rare biotite mica deposit. It contains up to 102 trace minerals in their natural ionic sulfate form. When added to fresh water it uses natural ionic mineral chemistry to neutralize, coagulate, and precipitate dissolved contaminants, while simultaneously restoring the water's natural mineral balance. It is not a chemical treatment, a filter, or a synthetic additive. It is nature's own water restoration technology in a bottle.

How does PURINIZE® work?

PURINIZE® works through a four-stage process driven by ionic mineral chemistry.

First, when added to water the ionic minerals cause dissolved invisible impurities to come out of suspension and begin clumping together. Second, those clumped impurities are neutralized and become insoluble. Third, the insoluble neutralized particles solidify and precipitate out of solution. Fourth, the precipitates settle as inert sediment at the bottom of your container, where they can be filtered out or poured away from.

Underlying this process are two key chemical mechanisms. Oxidation-reduction (redox) chemistry converts dissolved contaminants from soluble, active forms into insoluble, inert ones through electron transfer. Ionic exchange displaces undesirable ions in the water and converts them into forms that can no longer remain dissolved.

How do I use PURINIZE®?

Add the recommended number of drops to your fresh water, stir or shake well to distribute evenly, and allow at least 60 minutes for the ionic mineral chemistry to work. You may notice the water becoming slightly cloudy as contaminants are drawn out of solution. This is normal and expected. Allow the sediment to settle before drinking, or pour through a simple filter or the PURINIZE® Bucket System for crystal clear results. Always follow the dosage instructions on the label for best results.

For severely contaminated water sources, additional solution and additional wait time may be required for optimal results.

How much PURINIZE® do I need?

The amount depends on the quality of the water being treated. For municipal tap water, well water, or similar fresh water sources the typical dilution ratio is 1:1000, meaning approximately 1 teaspoon treats 1.3 gallons of water. The 2 oz. bottle will treat approximately 60 liters. The 8 oz. bottle will treat approximately 240 liters or a 55-gallon drum. If the water source is highly questionable, additional solution and wait time may be required.

How quickly does PURINIZE® work?

The ionic minerals begin working the moment they are added to water. A 60-minute wait time is recommended before drinking to ensure adequate time for the chemistry to complete. It can take anywhere from 1 to 48 hours for visible sediment to appear depending on water temperature and contamination level. Colder water slows the process and warmer water speeds it up. The absence of visible sediment does not mean the water is untreated. PURINIZE® starts neutralizing contaminants immediately upon contact.

What contaminants does PURINIZE® address?

PURINIZE® has been independently tested through EPA-certified laboratory analysis and shown to reduce over 250 contaminants in fresh drinking water including chlorine and chloramines, disinfection byproducts, heavy metals including arsenic, lead and mercury, agricultural chemicals including DDT and atrazine, industrial chemicals including VOCs and BPA, hexavalent chromium, pharmaceuticals including steroids and antibiotics, petrochemicals, sodium fluoride, microcystins, and turbidity. Do I need a filter to use PURINIZE®?

No. Adding PURINIZE® to your water is the purification. The ionic minerals go to work immediately and within minutes the process is well underway. Filtration is an optional finishing step for those who prefer their water to be visually clear or who are storing water for later use. Any standard filter works including a coffee filter, fine cloth, or the PURINIZE® Bucket System with its 0.2 micron ceramic filter. If no filter is available you can simply allow the sediment to settle and pour carefully from the top.

I already use a water filter. Why do I need PURINIZE®?

Most portable water filters are designed to address particulates and certain contaminants but are not effective against dissolved chemicals, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural or industrial residues that pass through filter membranes. PURINIZE® neutralizes and precipitates these dissolved contaminants before filtration, so they are no longer in solution and can no longer pass through your filter. Pre-treating with PURINIZE® before filtering gives your water the maximum level of chemical contaminant reduction available.

How does PURINIZE® differ from conventional water purification tablets or drops?

Conventional water purification products use synthetic chemicals such as chlorine, iodine, or chlorine dioxide. These chemicals create their own byproducts when added to water and have usage restrictions that limit them to short-term or emergency use only. PURINIZE® uses no synthetic chemicals, creates no harmful byproducts, and has no usage restrictions. It is safe for everyday, consistent, long-term use. It is also effective against a far broader range of dissolved chemical contaminants that synthetic purifiers cannot address.

What is the sediment or cloudiness I see after adding PURINIZE®?

The cloudiness and sediment you see is the purification process made visible. Dissolved contaminants that were previously invisible in your water are being drawn out of solution, neutralized, coagulated into particles, and settling to the bottom. This is exactly what is supposed to happen. The sediment is inert and harmless. You can filter it out for clarity or simply allow it to settle and pour carefully from the top.

Can I use PURINIZE® with bottled water?

Yes. Plastic water bottles are manufactured from petrochemicals, and bottled water itself can contain dissolved contaminants and trace chemical residues. Adding PURINIZE® to bottled water gives it the same ionic mineral treatment as any other fresh water source, neutralizing any remaining dissolved contaminants and restoring the mineral balance that bottled water often lacks.

Can I use PURINIZE® with drinks other than plain water?

Yes. Because PURINIZE® works through ionic mineral chemistry it can be added to any water-based drink. Many people add it to coffee, tea, juice, or restaurant beverages for the same ionic mineral benefit they get from treated tap or bottled water.

How long can I store water treated with PURINIZE®?

Water treated with PURINIZE® and stored properly in a sealed, food-grade container can be stored indefinitely. Because the ionic minerals do not lose their charge over time, the oxygen levels and ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential) within the water remain intact. This makes PURINIZE® treated water an exceptionally reliable solution for long-term water storage without the need for rotation or re-treatment.

What is the shelf life of PURINIZE® itself?

PURINIZE® does not have an expiration date and will remain effective indefinitely when stored properly. It does not lose potency after opening. Store the bottle out of direct sunlight in a dry place between 40 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

What is the PURINIZE® Bucket System?

The PURINIZE® Bucket System is a gravity-fed, two-chamber filtration system that requires no electricity and no plumbing. You add your fresh water and PURINIZE® to the upper chamber where the ionic minerals begin working immediately. The water then passes through a 0.2 micron ceramic filter that removes the inert sediment and any remaining particulates. The lower chamber collects the finished water, which you draw from a spigot. The result is crystal clear, purified, mineralized drinking water produced entirely without electricity or synthetic chemistry.

Does PURINIZE® change the taste of water?

Most users find that water treated with PURINIZE® tastes noticeably better. Chlorine taste and odor are neutralized. The restored ionic trace mineral matrix gives the water a natural, smooth quality similar to water from a mineral-rich spring. Coffee and tea brewed with PURINIZE® treated water also taste noticeably better as a result of the improved water quality.

Has PURINIZE® been independently tested?

Yes. All product testing has been performed by an independent EPA-certified laboratory. Tests were conducted according to EPA and NSF/ANSI standards where applicable. PURINIZE® has been shown to reduce over 250 contaminants in fresh drinking water. Lab documentation is available upon request.

Is PURINIZE® a supplement?

No. PURINIZE® is a water purification and restoration product. Its purpose is to improve the quality of your drinking water, not to serve as a dietary supplement.
